Teneder College & Algeco Secondary School – temporary classrooms
Teneder College is a secondary school in the town of IJmuiden in the Netherlands, which required an urgent extension in the form of temporary classrooms. The additional space had to be implemented quickly and efficiently and integrated seamlessly with the existing school building. It was also necessary to provide sufficiently large communal areas, such as corridors, to accommodate all the pupils.
The solution
Building on previous successful collaborations, the Dunamare school board entrusted Algeco with the task of extending the secondary school. To this end, 16 FireX modules – designed, amongst other things, for educational establishments – were used, ensuring comfort and the highest level of safety.
Taking various options into account, the project was completed in line with the client’s expectations – in such a way that it does not look like an extension, but rather a fully-fledged extension of the school building with a new entrance.
Scope and standard
The school management has decided to use the Serwis 360 service, which provides a comprehensive supply of essential furniture, equipment, etc. through a single, long-term partner.
To ensure comfort and safety, the modules have been fitted with:
- sound insulation – partition walls and micro-perforated ceiling panels to ensure quiet classrooms,
- CO₂ monitors to monitor air quality,
- an air-conditioning system,
- and a fire alarm linked to the fire detection system.
The effect
The modules supplied by Algeco not only comply with legal safety standards, but also provide pupils and teachers with a comfortable learning environment. The seamless integration of the modules with the school building makes it easy to move between classrooms without disrupting the school’s daily routine or operations.
