Photovoltaic modules on a container: the perfect combination

Today, modular solutions are much more than just temporary structures – they are modern, functional and flexible office, educational and residential spaces. And when we equip them with solar panels, we gain energy independence, lower running costs and make a tangible contribution to sustainable development.

What is solar energy?

The sun is a natural source of energy that has been powering the Earth for millions of years. As early as 1839, the so-called photovoltaic effect was discovered, which enables the conversion of sunlight into electricity. Today, this technology is widely used on building roofs, façades and fences.

Types of solar technology:

  • Photovoltaics (PV) – converts sunlight into electricity.
  • Solar thermal – uses solar energy to heat water and rooms, with the option of storing heat in buffer tanks.

Photovoltaics from ALGECO – energy straight from the container roof

Modular buildings, such as offices, schools, nurseries and staff facilities, require electricity. Fitting them with a PV system is a step towards self-sufficiency and reducing their carbon footprint. Algeco’s latest innovation is photovoltaics. It is a plug & play solution integrated into containers, comprising photovoltaic panels with sufficient capacity to power:

  • heat pumps,
  • lighting,
  • air conditioning,
  • office equipment (computers, printers, routers),
  • and even some heating systems.

Why should you opt for containers fitted with a photovoltaic system?

Energy independence – electrical appliances are powered by their own energy source. Lower heating costs – the use of solar technology enables water to be heated and rooms to be heated, which is particularly important in winter. Reduced CO₂ emissions – lower energy consumption from the grid translates into tangible savings and a smaller carbon footprint. Mobility and modularity – just like shipping containers, solar panels can be reused multiple times in different locations.

Why is a container roof the ideal place for solar panels?

Traditionally, PV panels were installed on south-facing pitched roofs. Today, however, modern solar cells are so efficient that the roof pitch is no longer a critical factor. A flat container roof:

  • provides a large, unshaded installation surface,
  • allows for the optimal arrangement of PV modules,
  • and facilitates water drainage thanks to its minimal slope.

Modular construction of the future – powered by the sun

Algeco containers have long been a symbol of flexibility and efficiency. Now – thanks to ALGECO’s photovoltaic systems – we offer a solution that goes one step further, combining the advantages of modular construction with the benefits of renewable energy. This is the ideal solution for: local authorities implementing green projects, companies committed to ESG and optimising operating costs, and investors seeking modern and energy-efficient solutions.
