Het Palet & Algeco Primary School – temporary classrooms
Het Palet is a primary school in Hoogeveen, the Netherlands. Due to an extension, temporary classrooms were required. The client needed a solution that would not only be implemented efficiently, but also designed to fit in with the school’s daily routine.
The solution
Algeco has designed a space comprising 54 FireX modules – high-quality fire-resistant containers that meet stringent safety requirements. This is a particularly important consideration in a space used on a daily basis by young children.
Scope and standard
In addition to designing and constructing the modular space itself, the school also opted for furnishing as part of the 360 Service. As well as the most basic items, such as desks, chairs and benches, Algeco fitted out the premises with:
- inverter air conditioning and ventilation supported by 25 heat pumps,
- a data transmission network,
- a fire and evacuation system with a wireless control panel and emergency power supply,
- a burglar alarm system with code-based control,
- dual-sensor detectors,
- door sensors,
- and an internal alarm siren.
All components were maintained and serviced on an ongoing basis by Algeco.
The effect
The school has gained a temporary building fully tailored to its needs, without disrupting the daily routine of learning. Teachers are able to conduct lessons freely, making use of equipment and technology, whilst pupils have gained a safe space that enables them to learn just as effectively as within the walls of a traditional school.
The project was carried out in close cooperation with the local council and local residents. During consultation meetings, we agreed on the design and appearance of the building, whilst taking into account the expectations of all stakeholders.
