Portable toilets and regulations governing public toilets

Portable toilets must meet specific legal requirements. The regulations are set out in the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure of 12 April 2002.

According to the regulations:

• cubicles must be at least 1 m wide and 1.5 m long,
• doors should be at least 0.8 m wide,
• at least one cubicle must be adapted for the needs of people with disabilities (1.5 x 1.5 m, door width at least 0.9 m),
• toilet signage is mandatory – e.g. for women, men or people with disabilities,
• required fittings: one washbasin per 20 people, one urinal per 30 men, one toilet per 30 men or 20 women.

• three washbasins,
• three urinals,
• four toilet bowls,
• a 2 kW heater,
• 2×36 W lighting,
• water, drainage and electrical connections.
